Acid vapor attacks metal parts
Digestion by acids like aqua regia or HF is routine work in many elemental analysis laboratories working with ICP-OES or ICP-MS. During the heating, aggressive acid vapors are produced which can attack metal parts in the laboratory hood. A rusting lab can cause problems if samples are contaminated by metal traces from the surrounding. Furthermore, acid vapors can damage lab equipment and shorten its lifetime.
Metall-free hot plates for analysis laboratories
AHF analysentechnik offers metal-free hot plates made of graphite with PFA (Perfluoralkoxy polymer) coating, which makes them acid inert. The power cable is jacketed by a PFA tube and the temperature regulator can be placed safely outside the hood. The hot plates are available in different sizes and equipped with a digital temperature controller, either up-/down with timer or as programmable version.
Hot plates for evaporation and wet mineralization
Besides standard applications such as evaporation, wet mineralization is also possible. For this purpose, PFA covered graphite racks are used as holding device for sample vials to ensure a uniform temperature distribution. Different rack sizes are available for various types of vials. The racks can be customized to meet the customers’ needs.
